Postpartum depression which effects up to 20% of all new mothers, is the single greatest complication associated with childbirth. A newly published brain study led by Dr. Michael E. Silverman, a leading expert in postpartum depression from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, sheds light on the neural dysfunction associated with postpartum depression and why some new mothers may unintentionally place their newborns in harms way.
