Mental health treatment remains complex

Electric shock therapy, no longer the fearsome, convulsing drama of the movies, has remained for decades the "gold standard" in treatment for people with severe depression. But a modernized version of delivering electrical impulses to the brain eventually could replace electroconvulsive therapy, if the procedure is approved.
